Alstroemeria, a colorful celebration of friendship. Twisted leaves and beautiful, brightly colored flowers: these are the characteristics of the alstroemeria. She symbolizes friendship and that makes her the perfect flower to give as a gift to your best friends.
COLORS AND SHAPES
The alstroemeria still hides somewhat shyly in its flower bud in the shop. But olala, what a surprise when she opens her buds at home. Then you will see six to eight flowers on its stem, with a flaming interior in white, yellow, red, orange, purple or pink that you can enjoy to the fullest. Especially because these flowers last so long.
SYMBOLISM
The alstroemeria symbolizes a long-lasting friendship. It is therefore the perfect gift to celebrate a beautiful friendship. All six petals of the alstroemeria represent a valuable property; understanding, humor, patience, compassion, decisiveness and respect. You can choose which leaf stands for which meaning.
ORIGIN
The exotic alstroemeria is also called inca lily. It is a reference to its natural habitat: the cool mountain ranges of the Andes in Chile, Brazil and Peru. The flower was discovered there in the eighteenth century by the Swedish researcher Clas Alströmer. It was he who gave the flower its current name.
GOOD TO KNOW
Some alstroemeria varieties do not produce pollen, for example the Florinca. This has two advantages: the flowers do not fall out and they are extremely suitable for people with hay fever.
