COLORS AND SHAPES
Anemones have large flowers and resemble poppies with their black hearts and sturdy stems. You can get anemones in white, pink, red to violet and blue. There are about 120 species, some have a single row of petals, others have more.
SYMBOLISM
The anemone isn't thrifty when it comes to symbolism, did you know that? The flower stands for 'I want to be with you', expectation, caring and honesty.
ORIGIN
The anemone was born in southern Europe and Asia. There are several stories about the name of the anemone. The genus name Anemone is derived from the Greek word 'anemos', which means wind. The seed is fluffy and is dispersed by the wind.
Another theory also goes back to ancient times. Anemona was a nymph in the court of the goddess Flora. According to the legend, Floras Zephyr, the god of the wind, fell in love with Anemona and the jealous goddess turned her into a flower.
According to other sources, the name Anemone goes back to the Greek and Latin corruption of the Semitic name of Adonis, from whose blood the anemone species in the Middle East is said to have sprung. What do you think is the best story?
